Asubgroup of the Amazigh people, the Central Atlast Amazigh inhabit the Middle Atlas and High Atlas mountains of Morocco who are closely linked to the neighboring Shilha/Chleuh subgroup. They are traditionally sedentary and rely on agriculture and livestock. An estimated 3.5 million people belong to the Central Atlas Amazigh. They traditionally resided in fort-like structures known as qsur or igharman. Like other Amazigh people, they primarily speak Tamazight and Arabic.
